Last updated 22/08/2024 13:08

Issue

  • The tumble dryer’s water tank is empty
  • Water does not collect in a dryer tank
  • Dryer program ends shortly after it started

Applies to

  • tumble dryers

Resolution

Before the water is pumped to the water tank, it is collected in a large container. Upon general use, the water must be emptied after every cycle.

Check if the condenser container is slotted into its tray properly. If it is slightly out of place, it won’t collect water.

1. This is normal if the water tank LED comes on after the first drying cycle and there is no water in the water tank.

Before the water is pumped to the water tank, it is collected in a large container.

2. Check if the dryer filters and condenser are clean.

  • If the filters, condenser and/or heat exchanger are dirty, it may be the reason why the machine is not heating up.
  • Clean the filters after each cycle anb the condenser once every 6 months
  • See the user manual for information on how to clean and maintain your appliance. Download the user manual.
  • The filters may appear clean but still be blocked.
  • You can check the filters by holding them up against the light or under a tap and seeing whether the water can flow through them.
  • If water will still not pass through the filters, you need to replace them.
  • Filters and accessories are available on our Webshop.

3. Make sure that the respective type of washing and the care symbols on the label of the laundry comply with the drying programme and selected options.

  • Tumble dryer programs are essentially either time-controlled or humidity-controlled (automatic).
  • Time-controlled: If you want to finish drying clothes that are almost dry, we recommend you use the Time Drying option (over 10 minutes duration, as the last 10 minutes of cycles consist of cooling without heat.)
  • Humidity-controlled: Automatic drying programmes are great when you are putting your laundry into the tumble dryer straight away after being washed in the washing machine.
  • Automatic drying cycles cannot be used for clothing that is only slightly damp.

4. Check whether the appliance is getting hot:

  • Firstly, clean the appliance and then start a timed cycle of at least 120 minutes with no load.
  • After one hour, open the door and check whether the drum is hot inside (with at least 20 minutes remaining on the display).
  • If the inside of the drum is hot, the heating system is working. In tumble dryers fitted with a heat pump, you can often also hear whooshing or sloshing noises from the appliance when it stops.
  • If the appliance is still not hot after an hour of the program, this might indicate a faulty heater and we recommend requesting a visit by a service engineer.

5. Check if the appliance is equipped with an external draining kit.

This handy kit is designed to empty water from your condenser dryer, by draining it directly into a sink or drain. You will no longer need to empty the water collection tank at the end of each cycle.

To help you determine the exact nature of the problem, we recommend a visit by one of our authorized engineers to check the appliance and fix the problem.

Warning: We do not recommend using the product until the problem has been completely fixed. Unplug the product and do not plug it in again until you are certain that it is OK to do so.
