Water container
First things first, what is different with a steam oven is that it cooks with steam. For that, it needs a water container that must be filled with water for the oven to work properly. The heat from the oven then turns the water into steam.
On Electrolux steam ovens the water container is placed in the upper right corner on your steam oven. With the expectation of the SteamBake oven, where it is placed in the cavity on the bottom floor of the oven. Either way, ensure to fill it up before you start cooking.
Steam levels
Another thing to note are the different steam levels you can use when cooking, on Electrolux steam ovens they are called Full Steam, Humidity High, Humidity Medium and Humidity Low. As a general guidance, this is what the different steam levels work well for:
- Full Steam uses continuous steam for healthy and flavourful food. Ideal for gently cooking ingredients like vegetables, rice, couscous and seafood (fish, mussels and prawns).
- Humidity High combines hot air with steam for a delicate dishes. Ideal for delicate dishes like custards, flans, terrines and fish.
